governor repair

I have a 651, that I am rebuilding. My question is about the governor. I have the latter type with the two rollers. The bearings appear to have flat spots on them. The thing is the flat spots don"t really look like wear. There are two flat spots on each bearing. 180 degrees apart. My question are these flat spots normal or is it signs of wear.

Sherrmann;

The Ford Shop manual calls for replacing the roller weights if there is any sign of wear. The governor action is controlled by the "rollers". As the engine speed increases, centrifugal force moves the rollers outward. For proper movement it would seem they should be round. According to a previous post, flat spots could cause it to hang up. It would also seem that what your see is wear. When I had my governor out during an engine rebuild I did not see any flat spots. Also, the diagram of the parts do not show any flat spots. Hope this helps.
