Grain drill question

I wanted to go to a farm sale 20yrs ag0, but wife, X then passed now, held me up. I got there just as they sold the good drill. There was another, older McCormick Deering drill that the box was about shot. I got it for $1.50. A friend had bid $1.00. I bid the $1.50 on it. He turned around, saw me, and I saw him, and he let it pass. I got it home, and paid $7,99 for new wood. I replaced the bottom as best I could. Finally, setting outside with tin over it, I replaced the wood again $37.00 this time 4yrs ago. It flows faster from one side than the other. I cant tell it in the yield, but I know its there. Is there a adjustment I can make to slow down one side. I know that theres a cup/flap that has 3 or 4 settings, but I dont know if adjusting them closer might crack the seed, Sudan Grass

You'll want a manual to figure out settings for the various seed types. You can do an image search on the internet to find a picture of the seed chart that would have originally been under the lid, to give you some idea on how to set your feed wheels.

If you want to see if your flow rate is off, put it on jacks, put a decent amount of seed in the box, make sure it is even, engage the clutch & turn the wheels by hand to figure out how much is being wasted. Will need two people turning it evenly for the split-axle drills.

This doesn't help you but my drill is a 1960's vintage JD, steel hopper with weather proofing lids (2) and it has separate drop rate adjusters for either side and it has a chart for the correct drop width for different seeds. I've used it decades and the few parts that were worn out were easily replaced via the www.
