The old GMC died going for gas today , finally nursed it home .Turns out my BIL and I thought each other replaced them .So the point had to be in the truck at least 35 years.Let put it this way a lot of finger pointing going on.The first picture is the old one notice the nub that runs on the disturber is just about gone, second is 2the new set with the condenser attached. Is this a new way of doing it all in one piece ?

They switçhed to unipoints in 73. They will replaçe the 2 piece ones. Dwell 28-32. Dont forget a dab of grease on the distributer cam.

If the dwell jumps all over the place when you hook the meter to it..........................the distributor shaft, or bushings, may be bad. Put a dial indicator on it to see how much runout you have if this is the case.
