My BIL gave me a new gravity sandblater gun. There is no instructions in the package. It is a gun with plastic reservoir on the top to put the sand and air fiting on the bottom. The only information on the gun 7 CFM 90 PSI.

I wd like to try is for small jobs.
There is no info regarding type of sand to use.
I have a little 10 gallon compressor.

I wd like to know type of sand to use and if it can be used for small jobs.

Thanks in advance

Bart

I have a Craftsman gravity sandblaster, and use common silica sand from Lowes in it. It works well for small jobs so long as the ceramic nozzle is good.

You will need a MUCH larger air compressor for anything but the smallest jobs.

DO NOT USE SILICA SAND!!!!
The silica will tear your lungs up!
You can use playground sand, it is silica free and you can get it at the big box store of your choice.

Most of the playground sand I have seen has coarse material that will plug small sandblasters. If you use silica sand be sure to wear a respirator, the silica dust is a carcinogen.

Playground sand has silica in it also. get you some Black Beauty or the same product by a different name to do your blasting with. If you don't have the proper breathing equipment don't use any kind of sand.

If you know anybody trying to learn to cuss and can,t, loan that sandblaster to them and they will learn quicker
