Gravity waagon capacity

no-till

How does the gravity wagon capacity of a Kill Bros 375 wagon compare with a Kill Bros 400 center dump wagon?

Also, what ton rating is a John Deere 1064A running gear?

I don't 'know' but no one else replied yet....

I would think the difference would be about 25 bu capacity. Often the number is a tad optimistic assuming perfectly filling with good quality grain, but would think one is 25 bu bigger than the other anyhow.

They do have different sized extensions, so you'd want to verify it has on what it is supposed to have on for sides.

You can often get a general idea of the rating of a running gear by the number of studs on the wheels, but you probably want more specific than that.

not an answer to your question, I used to have a pair of Kill Bros 350 boxes with factory extensions and I always figured 250 bu of no. 2 corn. When dumped at the elevator with a full load was always around 240 - 265.

I've had a couple of 375 with the short (14"-16"?) extensions for probably thirty years, and one time I had 725 bushels on the two wagons together, but every corner was filled with heavy test weight corn. Taller extensions (22"-24"?) are available so that would push them up to maybe 400 bu.? My neighbor had a couple of 400's once and if my feeble memory serves me right they held 425 each. Seems to me like the extensions were pretty tall. Hope this helps. Jim

Most of those numbers on most gravity wagons refer to the capacity in cubic feet of the box itself without extensions. Example: 375 cu. ft. x .8 = 300 bushels. Then you would add the capacity of any extensions. Length x width x height. Example: 1 ft. x 7 ft. x 12 ft. = 84 cu. ft. x .8 = 67.2 bu. So, 300+67= 367 bushels.
