the inside of our gravity wagons are getting rusty. i wanted to check if it would cause any problems to paint the inside with silver roof paint.

There is a paint, maybe called "slip plate", for constipated gravity boxes. Otherwise, a wire brush cleaning and rustoleum.

you could try "paint over rust" supposed to be good stuff. Need to get some for the cars.

ABout 6 yrs. ago I took a brand new box and had it line xed. Fairly expensive but it has held up great and is used for hauling fertilizer when planting.

Whatever I would paint it with I would want to be sure that the rust is out of there first. If not it will just rust that much faster if a coating is holding the moisture that is trapped in the rust in there.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by silver roof paint. Personally I wouldn't want some coating melting of softening during warm weather. Wire brush all surfaces then brush or spray a primer plus one good enamel paint coat. Painted surfaces the load slides out much easier. My biggest rust problem has had come up from underneath the box floor's supports.
I've cleaned those channels out and pulled paint loaded rags through them on a wire. Messy but metal saving effective.

"Slip plate" (farm store) paint looks like graphite, burnish it with a stiff brush when dry. Every last kernel of corn will slide right out. I painted mine several years ago and it has just started to rust in some spots. i don't run alot of feed through it yearly because I use it like a bulk bin, but it has had feed that got wet and spoiled that didn't effect the paint any. I have a wagon that I didn't paint and I cuss it every time I get the hoe out to drag the feed down the chute.

silver roof paint doesn't melt in hot weather. It's a paint not a tar.
Our turkey sheds have the coating on them, been there 30+ years.
Don't know how it would hold up to scratching but it stands up to weather pretty well if it's not diluted too much....
