I got a DeWalt electric grease gun and when it runs out of grease almost half of it has gone past the rubber plunger. I do use cartridges and it sets awhile between uses this time of year I also have the same problem with the Lincoln hand gun and they both are not very old.
Thanks

Is the plunger facing the correct direction? Without looking, I don't know what is correct, but I do know there is a right way and a wrong way based on whether it's a cartridge or not. steve

I have the same Dewalt gun and a couple hand grease guns. All began bypassing in the same manner after I switched to Valvoline brand red grease. Cleaned then out and switched greases and now everything is fine.

I have the same problem with my Dewalt gun.
When I'm done using it, I pull the rod backwards and remove the pressure on the grease tube.
Problem solved. I put a bolt in the rod hole to prevent it from getting bumped and slipping out of the locked position.

Lip points away from the grease with tube grease and toward the grease for bulk filling and we can only get Lincoln guns to not leak by on bulk grease so we keep a Lincoln gun for the bulk grease and I have an old 20 plus year pistol grip Deere gun for tube grease and yes we use both since Dad had the bulk grease before we were working ground away from the home place so we could just refill the gun when empty. 10 miles from home it is more practical to use tube grease so I take both when working away from the home place. besides some places a lever gun is hard to work in some places and some places the 4 foot hose is just the ticket like on thew combine where you need a ladder to reach some places on.
