Well the old 52 8n plowed the garden disked all but 1 pass left hub started growling . the nut was loose . threads stripped axle and nut . improvised got her tight . very tight . locker down with weld still growling figure some thing bent or outer bearing is gone amuck.thought it was the brake shoes not .sounds like the drum rubbing with every rev . any ideas would be appreciated i have another axle and nut that are in good condition .thank you all
 
Sounds like the gasket that seals and also keeps the hub from riding on the brake backing plate is shot it's about 1/2" wide that goes on axle behind wheel hud. Can you wiggle the tire back and forth if so thats most likely it
 
cant wiggle it now but before i could hub is worn and has play on splines . i only use the tractor at the most 20 hrs a yr probally last my life time got 14 yrs left .
