Never have done it just a lucky guess.. Figured 3 lbs a hole and 6 per side..Its a good way to drop weight. Might have to do this in my G.. What did you cut wholes with? CNC?

Used a cnc however a good metal cutting hole saw will do it also. gear teeth are another story, they are case hardened and extreamly hard.

Wow. Thats a ton of work for a tiny prize. Seems like a few less cheese burgers, Budwisers & some exercise woulda been less work. LOL
