H and 300 Hydraulics

Anyone know what the gpm and psi ratings are for the H belly pump and also a 300 live pump? If I want live hydraulics on the H, should I not be looking for a 300 pump?

A belly pump is about 600 pounds. The 'mag' pump can put up at least 1200.The stock timing gears may take the extra strain of driveing a hydralic pump.Another thing to consider. I found out the
hard way. on an M and 400. I wanted to put live hydralics on a '45M useing a pump from a 400. Didn't fit! the newer tractors had the distributor drive bolt pattern changed so the 400 pump would
not bolt up.Check it out before you spend several hundred on a 300 pump.I learned the hard way. I now have a good 'mag' pump sitting on the shelf. But that's OK as I still have a SuperM and two 400
tractors.

To mount the live pump you need the plate that bolts to the engine behind the front cover, and the front cover from a late H (don't remember what year's fit maybe 50,51 or 52), super H, 300 or 350 farmall, not utility. Would also install the heavier cam gear.

The H, if its production date is before mid year 1950, has a bolt pattern change that will not allow the use of the stage 2 Super H, or newer. The
modification necessary to make it fit is not worth the trouble as the original H timing gear on the cam is a weak link. when used as a pump drive, the
load of the pump can break the hub, or teeth. The recommended change is to replace the front timing cover and the gear with later production. I have
copied this info from this forum from 2006, explaining serial # and part #s. M7W company sold a pump that fit the old pattern, but they are rare, and
do not address the gear issue. Jim

I only have the Parts Catalogue for the H, not for a Super or 300/350. Mine says 6957DBX for Ser.#501-344863 and 352168R11 for 344864 (which would be
mid-1950) up. I'd have guessed that 1950 would be too soon for IH to have known to change to the cover that would work for the live pump on the Super.
If somebody has a parts book for the Super or 300/350 I'd not be surprised of the cover was the 350950R1

Meant to say is earlier H timing gears may NOT take the strain of driveing a hydralic pump. They tend to break. Later tractors have heavier gears.

Later H counter shaft driven pumps in good condition were set to kick off at 750 to 800 PSI and would pump around 8 gallon a min. at 700 PSI and around 100 degree oil temp. 300 and 350 were 9.6 GPM and relief valve set for 1500 PSI. SH that used the same type pump had the relief set at 1200 PSI.

This earlier YT post ..linked.. on basically the same
subject. The wording got a little jumbled in my first
reply but if you read both you will be able to
understand. The link in the first post that is ..not live..
will take you to yet another discussion that explains
the required parts needed to install a live pump on an
H.

I have a parts 300 with pump, cover, etc. Would be willing to sell VERY cheaply BUT you'd need to take it apart
here in south central tx. (No snow this time of year--:-) kelly
