H brake question

I bought a H tractor that is going to need a set of brakes. Looking at the covers, it doesn't look like regular band covers I've seen and since its a 1940 I'm pretty sure it isn't disc. Is this style made for
band type brakes?

Ok. Looking around I can see these must be the Lambert conversion brakes. Who sells them? I'm reading that the spline count is higher than the later IH style. I'm not in dyer need, they still hold the tractor in gear but they're adjusted all the way out.

Lambert disks, available on H's & M's in the 40's. They are not really common, but are not real rare either. Seen a few in our part of the world, don't know if parts are available. Friend has had an H with Lamberts for several years that I know of & has never had a problem with them.

It looks like guys are just having the discs relined. The replacements are going for $120 each, that's $600 in discs alone! If push comes to shove I should be able to convert them back to bands for cheaper than that, but I'd rather keep the discs.

If there is meat remaining on the disks, it might be possible to machine the housing where it touches the tractor. this would allow additional adjustment. There needs to be at least 45 to 50 thousandths of remaining clearance! Jim

Ausco-Lambert disc brakes. My 1950 H had those. I converted it back to the original style band brakes. Best thing I've done so far for that H.

So, I got parts to convert the tractor over to band brakes and have found out it still has the keyed bull pinion shaft in it. I thought I had read somewhere that Lamberts were only made for spline shaft pinions. Anyone know if this is a bit of an oddity or were they common on an H as old as a 1940?

At this point I have two bull pinions coming, but now I'm debating on keeping the Lamberts. I think this set may have been put on at the dealer for sure. However, the acorn nut sheered the stud off when I tried to remove it, so if I keep them I have to come up with a fix for that yoke.
