Just got a Farmall H in, tag says X6 at end of serial number, which means slow speed gears. Anyone know how much slower? 1st & 2nd; for building puller? Are all gears slower? Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

Hey deer slayer...I think opit.equi.was a low gear 3teeth lower.we took a road grader Ih an took trany out .first gear 5teeth slower 2&3gear are fliped around so when requied to pull second gear we were in third. Lol use h counter shaft gearz get ya 9tooth reduction .it will be very slow .it will have power enough to bust the farmal hubs right off the tractor..lol u need to up grade you 3oohubs then or clamp o. Hubs that are over sized. We had 300engine with a power pack in it.we ran. 13.6 38 to 16.9 34 depend on class up to 6500 we pulled.jus what we did for our1941 farmal h...hope this helps...good luck....steve

It's only 1st gear that is slower. The standard 1st gear set is 23:47 and the creeper set is 17:57. This makes it 34% slower. The creeper gear tractors have the 17 tooth gear as part of the countershaft, and thus have unique parts.

For pulling, it will give you speeds that are pretty slow - like 1.6-1.7mph. There is a big jump from there to 2nd gear, which is almost 2mph faster. The creeper gear makes a great puller out of a stock engine in a slow speed class. If you want to pull 2nd gear, you will likely need to bore and stroke the engine to do so. If you beef up the engine, you won't want to use that slow 1st gear gear. :)

If you want the regular gearset, I have enough gears and shafts to make up at least two if not three complete sets. Be willing to trade if you're interested. Let me know and I'll go take an exact inventory of what I have.

Got the ol H running well enough to test gears. 1st seems about 1.6 mph, 2nd seems about 2.5 mph, reverse seems about 1.6 mph. All others are the same as standard transmission.

second should be 3 1/8 to 3 1/2mph no other second gear speed was optioal with the H. Where you checking this speed at 1650 rpm?

The Supers/300/350 had even faster gears.
