Got this heavy old thing from a scrapper years ago, has been sitting next to the garage ever since, cast in Montreal is all I know about it. Wondering where it would have been used. Its yard art now. 5 gal. pail for reference.
A guy from Long Island gave me this one abour 45 or 50 years ago.
He told me if was used for hauling boats.
Mine is a 2-speed model.......the extra shaft slides
to mesh with either the large gear or an intermediate set of gears for slower speed.
I always thought I would use it for skidding logs but, of course, never got a round tuit.
The handle in the last picture keeps the shaft in whichever speed is being used.
In addition to a band brake, there is a lock dog which meshes with the large gear as seen in the first picture.
It sure is a heavy piece of equipment!
