Happened again this fall!

So I got done with the garden shed I was building for my wife and realized my shop was in bad need of a cleaning. So after a couple days I got the work bench done. Even put things back in the file draw. The Oliver 60 in the next bay is almost buried.

Looks good. My bench will never look like that. I have stuff my Dad had there 60 years ago. Last scrap metal clean up I did get rid of some stuff underneath. Stan

Well I don't do a major shuffle. Reason being is that If I have an item in my hand, of any nature, I ask myself where would I look for this? The answer is where I put it. I used to clean up but couldn't find anything.

Well I don't do a major shuffle. Reason being is that If I have an item in my hand, of any nature, I ask myself where would I look for this? The answer is where I put it. I used to clean up but couldn't find anything.

I started doing the same thing several years ago...putting things away where I first thought of looking for them. I'm sure my organization makes sense to no one but myself, but I very seldom have trouble finding things.

So this all started when I got a pedometer. I was walking 11,000 steps a day. Most were looking for one of my tools. Someone said A place for everything and everyting in it's place. Now I have a New knee in place. A good memory would be most helpful.

Why does it take only takes a few minutes to clutter a workbench and it takes all day to clean the bench?

The advantage of my shop- outbuilding condition is that a burglar couldn’t sneak through it in the dark without a broken leg at the minimum.

So that's what a workbench looks like huh? I haven't seen my for so long I totally forgot. If I was to attempt to bring mine back to usable condition I don't know what I'd do with all the valuable stuff I store on it.

Its merely an attitude thing. Since the women in my life have gone on to greener pastures, I live alone and do something I never had to do before.....keep house. I find myself dreading to do something on some days due to my mood and other days it gets done. Funny thing is that it only takes a few minutes to do what I dreaded.......once I made up my mind to do it and I look at the results which are pleasing and say to myself.....well that wasn't all that bad. Mind over matter.

I recently purchased an old 9 drawer dresser, specifically for the engine parts I'm accumulating for a rebuild. That cleaned off my butcher block/sawhorse workbench for a total of exactly 1 hour and 15 minutes. But now the parts are organized and out of the sparks from the welding end of the bench. I just have to remember that used paper towels being stored for spill cleanup start very easily on fire in the presence of grinding sparks. Most times I remember to keep the Naptha and Lacquer thinner on another bench. steve
