Harbor Freight Transmission jack

Has anyone bought a 800 lb. transmission jack from Harbor Freight?? Any Good ?? I only need to udse one once in awhile. It gets expensive to rent one. Thanks

I own the heavier duty of the two they sell not sure if its 800 or ?? Has been used quite a bit with no problems.

Thanks for info, Going to take my 26 Buick to a Buick meet in Nashua, NH on Sunday. Harbor Freight has a store in Amherst NH about 12 miles from the show. Will pick one up then. Thanks for the help.

It's you that's got to lay under it. Ask yourself if you want to trust the Harbour Freight name....
Personally I'd stay with a strong arm for something that important.

Wanna explain how you lay [b:ec43cd539f]under[/b:ec43cd539f] a transmission jack?

That would certainly be tough!

Always check the reviews on the stuff you look to buy at Harbor Freight. I have read them carefully and bought only what is recommended. It has worked each time so far.

You don't lay under the jack.... but I guess if you'd dropped a transmission or two you'd realize that there are a lot of situations where you ARE in a confined space with the body of the transmission above you, overhanging the jack...
Drop a 1500# RoadRanger and you'll know what I'm talking about.

I"ve had mine about 2 yrs and it works great. I used it about half a dozen times and loned it out at least that many times, no problems yet.

I've got it and love it. No problems. I've done half a dozen pickup trucks and pulled trans and transfercases out as units. It's more then paid for itself already.

wow, what RR trans weighs 1500 lbs? ive pulled several 18spds, and they are about half that weight.............

i dont think i;d be lifting a RR with an HF jack anyways. i have the 800 HF jack, and it works fine on pickup truck sized trannys. i dont think too many semi truck shops use HF tranny jacks.......

The stated weight on the bigger RR's I've seen is in the 1300-1500 range... A 6613 is probably half that weight.

I've dropped a "transmission or two". That's why I posted in this thread. To share information I have direct experience with. I have not gotten on this site and told people to lay under a transmission jack, nor have I told them an 800 pound jack could be used for a 1500 pound Roadranger. The sky is not falling, Rod. A harbor freight jack works as designed. I've checked.

You made a smarta$s remark and you got called on it. Plain and simple.
If you can't relate how you might get pinched by a leaker jack under a truck, I pity you.
The Harbour Freight jack may be fine... but if it is... it would be one of the first such cheap jack of any type I've seen that was any good.
Any of the Harbour Freight and Princess Auto type of stuff I've had has been pretty well hit and miss.
Personally... I would not have the patience to screw with that when it comes to a transmission jack.
