Anybody bought the 14 inch electric chainsaw from Harbour Freight? How do you like it? I was thinking of buying one.

I bought one for my FIL when he could no longer start his old gas chain saw, he loved it. After he passed we took it up to camp in Nova Scotia and use it there,it works great for small jobs I think ours is bigger than 14" though not realy sure.

My wife got me the 40 volt Lynax, I thought what a joke, I don't know how it would work for cutting firewood but for fixing and clearing fence its great. A charge lasts a long time. It also great for trimming around the yard. I am seriously looking at their string trimmer.

I used part of my gov. check for a 58 volt Echo. It was a little heavier than I expected but it sure does cut. 5 year warrantee on everything including the battery. It has a 16 inch bar.

RLP in CO; If you're asking about HF's Portland labeled corded electric chain saw, not one of the four different cordless chain saws they sell, I can share my experience. If you mean a cordless chain saw, I can't. I've had the corded model for more than five years, and in that time I've probably used it more than my Echo gas chain saw. It might not hold up to extended hard use such as cutting several cords of firewood each year, but on the other hand it might. I've taken down a number of trees with it and cut what was probably the equivalent of a year's worth of cordwood with it. Of course, what I call a year's worth of cordwood might not be the same as what you would call it. Even if Harbor Freight stops giving out coupons for 20% off most tools (Portland brand is not excluded), the saw only costs $50, so you could probably buy a new one every year without putting too much of a strain on your budget. I won't go into the strategies for using the purchase of one or two year extended warranties to get a new saw every year or two, but it's what Harbor Freight employees always advise me to do when they're trying to sell me an extended warranty, so it must not be against their policies. Would I buy another one if this one died? In a second.

Thanks Stan. Sounds like it will work good for what I want to use it for. I need to cut off some dead limbs off of some large trees. I know that it probably wouldn't hold up for making firewood but it sounds like it is just what I need for my limited jobs, and the price is right.

Son bought one a few years ago & has cut hundreds of cedar trees with it & generator in back of Mule. Our gas saws just collect dust this last few years.
I was skeptical, but it has been good.

I have the same saw; got it last year after a windstorm took a huge bite out of our Walnut trees. My gas chainsaw is so old it's a collectors item. (Skil 1650) and is hard to start. That cordless saw is quiet, ran for half a day on and off and still had a full charge. Oiler works far better than my neighbors Echo, as it's a screw drive. Chain easy to adjust. I'm thinking of the string trimmer, too. Currently have a Tanaka AST 7000 that runs well BUT the trimmer head BOLTS on instead of using a nut. New head is over $100. New Tenakas now use the nut fastener.

The green HF corded chainsaw is great. Yes, I have burned one out cutting apple but they had a recall and meant a free replacement.

I do like to keep the chain sharp and tight and that means it works perfectly.
