hard start briggs twin

hard starting briggs 16 hp twin starts and runs great when cold but hard to restart after it warms up any ideas?

Most likely your MAGNETRON coil is being affected by the heat. This happens when the engine get between 5 and 10 years old. Replacement is the only fix.

In addition to what kent said to check,if eng an ohv,check valve clearances,valves may need an adj & when eng hot clearances may be excessive.

Since it is a twin cyl, would it be likely that both coils would go bad at the same time?

you didnt give the engine model # but it may be valve adjustment ,ignition coil or plain ol heat soak

Depends on mod of eng,opposed twin has dual coil on a single armature,intek & vanguard v twins use a seperate coil/armature for each cyl.
