hard start Ford NAA

I own a 1955 Ford Naa that I am having a difficult time starting. When i get it started it runs like a top.I have cleaned the carb and replace cap, points and plugs.Any suggestions to help me out. It is a 6 volt system.

First off no such thing as a 1955 NAA they where only made in 1954 and the Jubilee was made in 1953. So first off what do you have??. In 1955 they started making the 600/800 series tractors. That said check you spark and make sure it is a good blue/white and will jump a 1/4 inch gap of bigger. If spark is weak poor starts. Also check the compression if it is below 90psi that will make one very hard to start. Plus when was the last time tou checked/cleaned the air cleaner?? If it is low on oil or full of water and dirt that can make it hard to start

Yep I understand the fat finger problem or the key board not taking a letter even when you pushed it like the one place in my post where it says you and it should have said your

Do what others have said first. Since you said it works great after starting, I would also check those items that are only used to start, but not operate the tractor. I would check the battery to solenoid and solenoid to starter connections. They should be clean and tight and 1/0 gauge cables. They can go bad internally, so if they look frayed or old, you may want to replace them. The ground strap is preferably a 2 ga. braided cable, connected to a solid chassis ground. Also make sure the bolts holding the starter on are tight. The starter ground is made by the connection between the starter housing and the tractor - that surface should be free of rust, paint, oil, etc. If the starter bolts are loose, remove the starter and take a wire wheel to the mating surfaces on the starter and tractor. On one of my tractors, the starter brushes were worn and needed to be replaced. I also replaced the bushings in the end plates and the rebuilt starter spun much faster.
If it were me, I would start with the free things first - cleaning up all the connections and ground mating surfaces.

My 6v Jubilee used to be a pain to get started until I found out the carb was getting flooded when left sitting. I had replaced the fuel shut-off valve and, well, it didn"t and was dripping gas into the carb where the float valve always passes a little. Cleaning and replacing the original shutoff valve/strainer assembly allowed the gas to be completely shut off and ever since it starts right away. Take a look at that.
