Hardner, when to use?

Am using Van Sickle alykid enamel, ford red - orange, should the harder be used only in the last coat? Or in any prior coats?

Actually hardner is not needed in oil based tractor paint.

Just wipe it down with a good pre-cleaner solvent.

For my Ford tractor I used varsol but I have also can of quality pre-cleaner and will try to post a photo of it.

In the 1970's and 1980's we use to use paint reducer to wipe down cars.

Don't use paint thinner to wipe it down, it's too strong and will melt other paints and primers underneath it leaving streaks in your top coat.

Always refer to the paint manufacturer as guidance.

I am a licenesed automotive repair technician and been a painter in a GM dealership for 20+ years.

The best paint I have ever used was Krylon which is available in all tractor colors.

Two coats should cover so if you start at the back by the time you get to the front you could walk to the back and start your second coat.

or go do something for 20 minutes and apply your second coat.

The longer you wait however, the more dust particles you will be painting over but you could wait a whole day.
