hauling 9N

I need to transport my 9n about 4 miles. I have a 4 horse stock 16" trailer with 2x6 pressure treated lumber (pine) floor. I also need ramps. What I need to know is will the 2x6 flooring be sufficient ( it runs the width not lenght) and what would be reccomended for a ramp? Should I put down some 2x8"s to park on to distrubute the weight across more floor? There will also be a disk attached.

I"m doing this for several reasons, one the road I need to take to get to my hunting property is relatively busy. There are a few blind spots and a hill/valley down to and up from the creek which is also a blind hill/ curve. I don"t want to run into problems in the area. So I feel trailoring is my safer option.

Any reccomendations are greatly appreciated

Well unless it has good supports under the floor I would do the 2X8 just in case. As for ramps a 2X8 doubled if not more then say 4 foot long should also work for a ramp. I've seen people haul one in the back of a pick up more then once and yes they will fit but its tight

Tim........fergitt'chur horsie trailer and DRIVE yer tractor the 4-miles in BROAD DAYLITE. You have just as much right-away as 18-wheelers. Putt'a triangular SMV sign on back of tractor. It will NOT hurt yer tractor to drive 4-miles in hi-gear. Wear eye-glasses and SMILE and WAVE to all those inconsiderate SOB's. I just did a prade/show last weekend and drove 3 Ns the 4 mile round trip. 1 of the 9ns has a Sherman but something is pretty noisey so I ran it in std gears, makes for a nice relaxing drive. Go early in the morning if needed

My 16' wood deck flatbed is 2x8, with a 2x6 inthe center.. if you have good support.. it should hold.. however if I had some long 2x8's I'd run them and park the tracto on top of them to distribute the weight.

ramps? can you back into a ditcha nd just drive up.. otherwise.. i'd want thick timber.. 2x ain't safe.. I've cracked 2x timber loading a 1700# tractor into a trailer before.. wasn't a fun feeling.

If it was me.. As long as it wasn't a freeway.. I'd drive it.

I road my tractors 4 miles each way to one of my pastures each week for mowing..

If the drivers in your area are as bad as they are in mine I don’t blame you for wanting to trailer your tractor. If some idiot rear-ends you that SMV sign aint gonna help a bit.
It would seem to me that if your trailer will hold four horses it would hold your tractor and plow. However just to be on the safe side;
What is the condition of the floor now (Horse pee/manure is not a good wood preservative) as far as rot, cracks, etc.?
How far apart is the support under the wood?
You could put some boards under the tractor tires for shoring. Place them 90 degrees to the main floor. A couple of squares of plywood would even work, as long as they’re big enough to catch a couple of the main floorboards. Your shoring doesn't have to run the length of the trailer.
Ramps are a concern too. If you use 2xsomething make sure you support them somehow in a couple of places between the ground and trailer. As mentioned above having a ramp give out when your halfway up is no fun.

Tim, just drive the tractor with SMV. If you're worried about the idiots on the road, have someone follow you with the truck and the horse trailer, put the SMV on the trailer, take it off when you get there...

Why not do that with the tractor in the trailer?

Additonal issues I didn't mention. When driving in 2nd or higher the fan scraps the shroud and makes a real racket. Secondly I'm worried about the tractor having the power to get up the hill from down in the creek. It doesn't seem to run the way she should, does some spittin and sputtering. seems to be firing on 3 cylinders. Can actually brake it to a stall. Discking sand isn't too much of a drag. Tractor is 225 miles from where I live so When I'm up north I have very limited play time.

Time for a tune up.
When I put my radiator back on the fan was rubbing the shroud. Tried moving the radiator around a bit with no luck. I wound up having to bend the shroud away from the fan where it was rubbing. I guess the shroud got bumped when it was off.
