Having trouble finding part

Here is a chart of a few weld-on-hubs
Are you sure the one you have is 1-1/2" and not 1-5/8" dia.?

Could be 1-5/8 the calipers I used to measure the hole are old and it did seem to come up to 1.430 or so and not sure how close that would be to the 1-5/8. I just know so far I cannot find either a hub to fit a pulley of a pulley to fit the hub. I found a 1-3/8 PTO spline hub but it would not fit any of the pulleys the place had. Would be nice if I could find the correct pulley for this mower since if you wanted the mower to run faster you removed shims if you wanted to to run slower you added shims

You are not sure how close it would be? 1-5/8" is 1.625. 1.430 is less than 1-1/2". It is .195 or about 3/16" smaller than 1-5/8".
 
So I need to find a weld on hub adapter that fits a1-3/8 PTO to pulley. Bomgaar's has one for 1-1/8 but not the bigger one. Back when it was Orschlen's they had them since I welded one years ago to a pulley

This is the PTO pulley fro the B/C mid mount sickle bar mower. It is a multi part pulley or as least the factor one was where you had 2 half's and shim in the middle of them so you could make the where the belt went bigger or smaller to speed the bar up of down. I have 1 half of the factory pulley and could have gotten the other half today for $50 at an old A/C dealer but that would not help me with out the part of it that fit on the PTO shaft

Not sure how wide the belt is but I know it is not a 1/2 it is pretty wide but most drive belts for sickle mowers are. I could walk and and double check if it still has the numbers on it. But if I where to guess I'd say 5/8

Perhaps you could measure it?

I am trying to help you, I have quite an oddball collection of sheaves of various sizes and a 1-3/8" splined hubs sitting on the shelf AND a lathe.

While this is a crude way to measure how wide the belt is but I think it will be close. A 5/8 wrench fits almost tight to the belt so I figure the belt is 5/8. The factory pulley was set up so you could add or remove shims to speed up or slow down the action of the bar. I wish I could find the factory pulley but not likely. I have one half of the pulley and I could have got the other half today for $50 but it didn't have the hub fro the PTO so that would have been no help

I have a copy of the manual for this mower and while it shows pictures of the pulley I need it doesn't list a part number or other info on it

Or, did I imagine the 6" dimension, a quick look at your posts didn't turn that up.

To be SURE, what size sheave do you need?

Well I tried to find the half pulley that was hanging up in my shop but it isn't on the wall any more so it fell off or something. I did measure the lower pulley the one that drives the parts that in turn drives the pitman and out side to out side is 8 inch but the belt rides down so the outer part of the belt sit just a tad bit inside that 8 inches

Well, standard PTO speed is 540 RPM's, how many strokes per minute would you like the sickle to operate at?

I think a typical old tractor mower operated at 700 to 900 strokes per minute, some newer equipment operates at at least 1600 strokes per minute!

A common old DEERE #5 has a standard drive ratio of 1:1.6, a low speed option of 1:1.5, and a "speed up option"of 1:1.8.

Not sure how fast I need it to go but I know at the speed it goes now shakes the tractor very badly. I know years ago I had one like this one that I sold the B and the mower and it didn't shake near as bad as this one does

Well unless I am missing something here , does your tractor not have a gear shift and throttle ? Why must u cut hay at w o t ? Select your speed and rpm and go. Gear up throttle down is a fuel saver. I do it all the time. Your not pulling a plow 8” deep that you need h p. Days of arguing I would have had that hay field cut and baled.
