This is a photo of my great grandfathers rake…my dad thought it said “Hudson” on it or something like that.

Nope, not one of the old AC ones. I'm not an expert on many things, but I know pretty much everything there is to know about those AC rakes (and still have/use three of them). But it's very interesting, as it's built along the same principles. The one shown in the picture appears to be ground drive from the rear wheel, with a lever (probably to reverse basket direction for a tedding function). I didn't think anyone but Allis built any quite like that. Several companies built similar 4-bar rakes and many of them had tedd functions, but all except the Allis (and this one, apparently) had a front axle, which was a pain as the axle would interfere with tall/thick windows.

I'd like to find one like the one shown: I think the AC ones are still the best tedder out there for being gentle on alfalfa yet still moving hay onto new/dry ground. I always thought the only thing I would prefer on the Allis's would be ground drive instead of pto, which this rake evidently has.

There was a farm equipment company named Judson, but the only products of theirs I've ever seen have all been lime spreaders. Someone back in 2007 was asking on here about a Judson hay rake/tedder but there were never any pictures of it posted.

Interesting to note about the Judson hay rake/tedder: My old records of patents and trademarks show that the Judson Brother company of Collegeville, PA, applied for a trademark to their combination rake/tedder in 1950. I suspect that's what that picture is. That was the same Judson company that later became well known for making superchargers for flathead Fords and aircooled VW's. I had heard of them before from my work with aircooled VW's, but had no idea they started out making farm equipment.
