Hay Rake Wheels - Left / Right ?

I purchased an 8 wheel V Rake . I can use the main frame with the left and right half , or run the left or right half independently . I have never cut or baled hay and will make an attempt this summer . I bought 4 new wheels at Atwoods for just under $400 . They only had 4 and they are "Left".

It looks like I will be starting out with a 4 wheel set up .

My question is , If I wanted to use these on the right side can I just bolt them on backwards ? I disassembled my used wheels and rebuilt two , which is kind of a pain ! I can rework these if I need too , but it looks like they could just be flipped around ??? I figured you guys would know .

I cant look over my left shoulder very well but I can turn to the right pretty good is why I ask . Thank You - Ken .

The center of wheel rake with holes to attach to hub on rake wheels assembly is designed to be behind the attachment point of teeth to give the small hook portion of teeth support. I've seen the teeth assembled incorrectly on new rakes that would perform OK but teeth flexed more than when center was correctly mounted.

Can?t help you regarding flipping wheels. I use a 10 wheel v rake and
only one time have I had to rake with only 8 wheels down. Most
round balers will take a large wind row. Just saying you should
consider having all 8 wheels available and cut your rake time in half.

we are in ky and sell them for 99each you can flip them bu they will not have the strength

Not arguing with you Larry,just wondering why they'd have more strength one way than the other? There aren't left and right tines. All I can see on my Gehl is that if they were turned around,the bolt heads would be on the back instead of the front. Is it because there's a flat plate hub on one side and just those plates that hold three of four tines at a time on the other side? Either way,you have an L shaped tine twisting on both surfaces.

Rake teeth have more strength,last longer if wheel center(key 23) is pushing against center of teeth rather than opposite where teeth are flexed away from center. This is the reason wheels are marked left or right.

I think you have to take off all the teeth and reverse them around so they sit the other way in the wheel?

there left and right the plate is thicker one way than the other we should know we sell over 200 a year and have several customers try this only to fail
