Haybine price?

2 NH haybines at auction this wk. end. A 479 & a 488. What's the difference between the 2 models and what is the worth of each if in good usable condition?

Several things will determine price. General condition of machine, especially the rolls. Availabilty of other machines locally. Other items also on the auction bill. I think the 488 is a newer version of the 479, but I prefer the 479 from looking at the 488, might be just a little easier to work on. FYI, a neighbor just bought a 488 at auction last Friday, $1275.00 DOUG

I have a 488 and love it. Also only one I have owned so take it for what its worth. They still make the 488 so it cann't be all bad. paid 2500 for mine four years ago and it was very good condition. I would look real close at the wobble box and try to see if its tight. probably hard to tell with belt tention on it. Also as other post stated look the rollers over really good.
