could any tell wher to get chain for a allis chalmer hd4 loader one guy told that cat d3 chain would work if i change the sprockets to but wouls they bolt onto my machine thanks for any help

Odds of them bolting on are very weak. What they refer to is cutting down your sprockets and welding on Cat rims. A common technique for fixing older machines. Then you only have to make sure rollers are proper dimensions to work.

There ought to be some good used tracks around. I bought a pair this summer. H3, HD3, H4, HD4, and the 650 series all use the same tracks.

I'm the guy that gave you that info. It is from a Cat conversion book i have for converting to Cat undercarrige on non Cat machines. The Cat tracks work as a track group (with grousers) and the rim is a D3 sprocket rim It is a common practice to weld on sprocket rims. I have sold these before to work on HD4. Cat D3 are more common inexpensive and also one of the small chains you can buy as Lubed chains.
