On my wife's newly aquired property (her Grandpa's little farm) there is a small dozer. Hasn't been run in atleast a 15 years. My wife's Dad says the motor is still loose. Needs a battery, her Uncle says he thought it needed a water pump. too. I am pretty sure its a ac hd5. We could use it to clear out some brush, alot of brush, They told me it was running out of its tracks so that sounds like major uc wear. But the Uncle says the tracks are good and needs rollers, pins have been turned many times he said. I used to run one like this so many years ago but never thought I would ever wind up with one. Well I need to know where you guys think I ought to start? And if uc parts are available? Seems like a shame to just let it sit there. Wife wants someone to come get it out of there for scrap. Now, my hackles go up when she calls things junk, but reality, do you think its worth it to try? Where is serial number located, under seat? Just don't want to spend lots of time and money when it might make better sense just to get something already running for the same money and no time if possible. Located in Basin, WY. Thanks for any replies. And would it safe to haul it on a 10 ton trailer??

Hi, I would say you should start with the engine to see if you can get it running. But the first thing to do is take the valve cover offof the engine and put a set of vicegrips on the injector rack and make shure its not stuck. If its stuck donot try to start the engine. spray some WD40 on the injectors and work the vicegrip back and forth until it works free. If it is froze up the engine can run off. after that Check with me I have some parts for that tractor, Thaks Rays

Thanks Ray, first thing I will do when I get back up there in about 2 weeks. Thats a great tip. I would never know about that. I ran one of these I think many years ago on a farm as a kid. trg
