Head gasket

After changing one exhaust valve that was sticking.Put back together motor knocked. Took head back off piston was hitting head. New head gasket was not as thick as old one.Do they make a thicker head gasket? Or do I have any other options? The new gasket I put on was all metal. Thanks

Ernie,Get a FelPro Head Gasket # 7277B from Naps ORileys ect.Check the thickness with the one you took off originally.Also lay the head on with the gasket in place and roll the engine over by hand and watch the head for movement. Do you know the thickness of the old head gasket?

I don't know the thickness A local tractor mechanic just gave me one to put on. No writing on package will ask him where he got it.Can you put on two gaskets together or will that leak?

Ernie,No I'm asking about the thickness of the gasket you took off originally.Do you still have it? No two gaskets would be asking for failure.

You are gonna have to relive the head are buy a new replacement head they come with the relief but by doing that kill a pony (horse power) are two..

The head gasket is notcher issue...

Ordered that head gasket will come in tommorow thanks hopefully it's the same as the old one

When I had my head milled flat, the pistons would hit the head so I ground the head down with a round burr tool until they not longer hit. marked where the pistons were hitting by puttome grease on the pistons and then rotating the engine over.

Ernie,Even if that FelPro head gasket gives it enough clearance with it laying on the block and rolling it over,I was going to tell you to grind a small amount of the area where the piston is contacting the head,even if it ran ok like that before, for a little extra room.A 4" angle grinder would work well to do that.You could lay the gasket on the head and mark the inside of each cylinder with a sharpie and do not grind any where past the line.Just grind the contact area Say .005"-.010" for insurance,it shouldn't take much.

It takes a lot BTDT quite a few times... I would not go at it with a 4" grinder a 3" is cutting it close... BTW A used head gasket measures .060 I would do all my check'N with out a head gasket...
