Should you use gasket cemet on a head gasket when installing or just leave it dry. 8 n Ford.

I like to use spray on Copper Coat on head gaskets, and most other gaskets, too.

Aome manufacturers apply a sealant coating to the gasket when manufactured. This coating is cured when the engine is operated to its normal temperature. Others gasket companies expect the use of spray on sealant like Coppercoat. Read the label on the gasket packaging, or the gasket itself, to determine which to do. If unlabeled, use the Coppercoat. i use permatex high tack sealer. always have and probably always will as its proved its self for the over 40 years i have been using it.it never hardens and easily removable. you sure dont want shellac on gaskets. i had a head redone on this super W4 last week as the other one was cracked. reu

reused the same gasket too.
