head gaskets

Hey guys, I need to change the head gasket on my 671s 134cid. Looking at the gaskets available on this site, it list a metal gasket with 7/16 inch bolt holes or a soft gasket with 1/2 inch bolt holes.

Is the difference in bolt holes a non issue and it"s a matter of preference with regards to metal versus soft gasket?

Jack.........IMHO, metal or soft, don't make a whole lotta difference. But I can guarentee you, 7/16 or 1/2 bolt holes DOES make a difference. Ever try to put 1/2 bolts in tight 7/16 holes??? Ever try to keep things straight with 7/16 bolts in sloppy 1/2 holes??? Gitt-outt there and find out iff'n yer engine uses 7/16 or 1/2 bolts. You can usually tell by the size of the hex-head. (7/16 = 11/16; 1/2 = 3/4) Simple, eh?........respectfully, Dell

Thanks Dell, I didn't see any metal gaskets offered for 1/2 inch or soft gaskets listed for 7/16 inch. That's why I wondered.
