Headlight switch on C

In previous posting should have said 'thanks' to both Old & to Steve! Next question is I have a headlight switch from a C & it has wires to go to the generator & somewhere else besides the lights. I'm wondering if I could use just the switch for the lights because I'm hooking up an alternator to replace the generator? Does some one have a diagram for this type of switch & how I would wire it just for headlight & tail lights?

You would just remove the wire that is connected to the resistor. Tape up the end. Bob
