Ok well I was on here a few months ago with an oil pressure issue. I was given a lot of great advice and I began doing each suggestion one by one. Unfortunately I do not have a lot of money or extra farm equipment so I had to continue using the tractor and could only do what I could do in a week or so. Anyway here is what is going on:

Tractor would start and pressure half way up the gage. After 10 to 30 minutes (it would vary depending on temp) it would drop to 0. I would stop the tractor and wait 15 to 30 minutes and restart and tractor had oil pressure again for usually a little less time.

1st up was better oil (I originally used 10W30)so I put in 20W50 and boom it seemed to keep the pressure up longer but it did drop to 0.

I replaced the gage and the same results.

I checked oil bath filter and replaced the brillo material and oil (hell I cleaned that up looking new).

I was going to move to the next suggestion when one day I was bringing the tractor back to the barn BOOM BANG. No idea what just happened. I wasn"t driving it long and the pressure gage showed a little pressure. I tore it apart last night (been sitting a few weeks) and I have pictures to show what I found.

My question is I paid $1250 for this tractor. The tires are good and the engine seemed to run well until this. PTO and Hydro"s work great. Electrical is a bit messed up (someone before me changed out stuff and head/tail lights not working). Do you think it"s worth the money to fix it or should I just try to find another tractor and use this one for parts?

BTW If you cannot see it the cylinder is in perfect condition I have not gotten to the lower half yet to see.

I have them on this site so you can see them as large pictures.

Depending on your local machiene shop you are looking at 1000-1500 or so to repair that if you do the rest of the work yourself if the crank is turnable. If not you may be the 2K range to repair it. YOu can get a reman for a little more. When finished you know what you have. Buying another one you could be in the same boat in a few days.....then you would have 2 for parts!

If you rebuild it be sure to inspect/replace the clutch and front tranny seal while it's apart! Little extra money now can keep you from splitting it a 2nd time. Also rewire it while it's apart.

Good thing is I own a machine shop so I can make a lot of the things I may need. I am still wondering if it's worth it? I am not 100% mechanically inclined so anything else I should replace or change while I am there would be greatly appreciated. Also I am hoping to get to the root of the original pressure issue.
