I have a 801 out in the yard on a slight incline that won"t move. No gears or pto. I have disengaged the drive line and still won"t roll. I am long time lurker and have been dreading this day. What next?

801 is the series what model is it?? As in what type of transmission is it?? Know that helps use help you and with out that info almost imposable to help you help your self

S-O-S transmission?

If so, are you certain that the traction disconnect has been disengaged? If parked on an incline, it will take more than a single person to do this.

Sorry guys it is a 1959 selecto-speed that up until now has not had any problems. I have owned the tractor for last 18 years. Dean I will have my son help me try to disengage the drive line again. Thanks again for any information.

SOS on a hill can be very hard to work with and could also get a person hurt. Block ALL of the wheels except one rear one and jack that one up. That will get the load off the drive train and then you should be able to disengage the drive line. If much of a hill I would even think about driving another tractor or truck and hooking up a com-a-long etc so as to make it extra safe to work on

My problem is now while trying to disengage the lever it now moves freely, after removing the cover it is not connected to anything. I will secure the tractor and I do have a backhoe that I can drag it to flatter ground. I will not take any chances. I found my neighbor with his tractor on top of him I'll never get that picture out of my mind I WILL BE CAREFUL!

Sounds like you broke the coupler handle off if that is the correct term for it. Any how sounds like you tried one time to man7 and to hard. Be careful trying to drag it so as not to do more harm to the unit

If the traction disconnect rotates freely, it has become disengaged from the collar or broken. Remove the side cover and inspect.

Disengagement should be done without tools once the locking nut has been removed. If you used a wrench and applied heavy force you may have damaged the mechanism.

My guess is if has no drive OR PTO it's not in his driveline. It's on the front of the tranny.
I'm thinking input shaft and or torque limiting clutch.
We might have one here - gotta pull the tranny to see what shape it's in.
email is open.

Ok guys bear with me,, I was able to jack up one tire and reach in where the plate was and disengage drive line. I was able to tow tractor to barn where I reengaged drive line for s--ts and giggles and now everything seems to work, all gears and pto. I didn't mess with it too much because I had lost fluid when removing plate. What has happened?? I can't tell you guys how much I appreciate your responses!

Fluid level may have been low when it was sitting there and by getting it on a flat place and then adding fluid may have gotten the level up high enough again to start working again
