help finding info: champ forklift

hey guys I found your site by chance trying to Google information on a champ CB60a rough terrain forklift I want to buy.

don't know the year. everything works including sideshift but it has problems moving in any gear. it will go on flat land but has a problem even getting up into a shop. gears grind a bit unless you start it in gear. has Chrysler flathead and what looks to be their old fluid drive connected to a standard truck 4spd.

Im thinking the torque converter is low on fluid itself. it was the sellers fathers who passed. he doesn't know much. starts fine. I rode out to look at it. Im guessing it could be the clutch adjustment but sitting the torque converter looks wet. worst case I'm hoping I could find a used converter.

the one other problem is I cannot find any data plate that says how much it weighs. I have a 1ton dually capable to haul it but Id rather not destroy my 14k flatbed wood deck. I have a unrestricted class A CDL so I could rent a 16k steel deck trailer.

any help with info including finding a repair manual would be an amazing help.

I would guess that weighs every bit of 10,000 lbs. Upper limit of what you would want on a 14k trailer.

As long as the trailer cross members are 24” or less the wood deck will be fine. I’ll let you decide if you have enough trailer.

As far as value of the forklift, my opinion on a barely operating orphan brand, is scrap price plus the value of the tires as it looks to have some decent ones on it.

Welcome to the forums.

I would put that unit nearer to 12000 pounds.

Try calling Chamcor parts mentioned in this old thread. There is a good chance they are gone now, if they were winding down in 2019.

it has brand new tires. engine looks like it's been gone through and started up fast. I'm a pretty good mechanic just have no experience with forklifts. I fix up and part out old trucks so having something that can lift a whole truck would be great. he's asking 4k I'm thinking around 2500 because the steering is also not working right. they put a new orbital valve in but still squeeling and bogging out. so either the pump or ram OR a bad line

my trailer is 20x7 with 24" cross members. I was mad. I drove up to Oregon to buy it. the company salesman told me 16" but when I got to the dealer it was 24". he has one job, to know the product he sells. the forklift is only 76" wide so it will fit but the trailer only has 10ply 235/80-16 tires. id rather rent the 16k trailer for $150 and not worry about overloading mine.
