I replaced the left shift rail on my 1650, throwing it all back together now but while replacing the rail i lost where neutral was,
does anyone know any quick tips to help me get everything lined up again?
I had the top put back together and the shift rail put back in, could shift between the high and low range and into where 5th and 6th would be but not back into 3rd or 1st. also couldn"t shift into either reverse but it would go into 4 or 2nd (motor still removed going by feel)
if i could figure out what gear i"m stuck in it would be an easy fix but i"m not sure where it is, kind of lost complete track of things as i was going
thanks

here is a pic of where the rails are sitting right now, is it possible the rails are in the right place but the forks are wrong? thanks

hopefully pic works this time

You should be in neutral. The rails are lined up correct for putting the lever in the largest slot to the left. You may not have the shift fork in the shift coller down in the trans,so it stays in ingaged one gear all the time.
