Please help Identify this planter. I am in the process of restoring it and have already sandblasted and primed it. I bought the handles for it this past weekend and need to know a paint color. Also if anyone knows where i can purchase the "Hopper" parts that would be great as well. Take a look at the link...
Thanks,
Jeff TX

you got the mule in front of the cart er planter. i wouldn't have put that much time into it until i had all the parts. chances are you want find the right hopper and lid and plates. if your truly restoring this piece you should have taken it a part and then sand blasted it. when you take it apart you'll find the colors in between the metal pieces to still be there and pretty much intact. take pictures of it before you disassemble it so you'll know how it all goes back together. in order to tell the true color of the paint you can wet it with water to make it appear more orginal like. some paint stores will computer match the colors for you. just guessing i'd say it is an oliver planter. if the wheels on it are "ribbed" it could have been a jd, but normally jd marked their parts with a jd some place on it. look for identying marks on parts that are cast, not steel parts. ihc emblems are hard to spot because most people see the emblem as an ih inside of a circle. if you look close you'll see that its ih inside of of a "c". i have a complete jd planter that looks some what like this one, if your interested in another one to restore. i live in n al.
