I;m looking at a tractor that has the 600 emblem on it but when I found the serial # it was NAA 10795 and the casting # on the block is 6015 ? F or P. I'm I correct in thinking that it is a 53 NAA Or am I baarking up the wrong tree.
Thanks Frank

Sounds like you got yourself a NAA with some 600 tin on it, or a 600 with a replacement transmission taken from a NAA. The engine was the same between the NAA and 600, so the 6015 engine casting won't help us differentiate, as the engine could be from either.

Does the rear axle have a big nut showing through the hole in the center of the wheel hub? If so, then it's a NAA axle, and it most likely is a NAA with 600 sheet metal. If not, then it's a 600 axle, and it's more likely a 600 that had the transmission replaced.

(quoted from post at 16:15:05 12/16/09) i'm not sure a naa to 600 trans swap is real feasable..look at the hyd plumbing..

Soundguy - I defer to your expertise. I don't have any first hand experience with either model, and I was basing my assumptions on this line from Jim Smith's "Identifying old Ford Tractors" web page:

The 600 series was basically the 134 cubic inch NAA with a few updates.

sure.. a few updates.. like different hyds setup at the lift cover and center section and plumbing from the pump.. different trans casting, different rear hub setup. 3 trans options vs 1 trans option.

IE.. a 640 and a NAA are for all intents and purposes, interchangeable for amount of work done..not so much parts interchangeability.. though certaintly the front half is nearly the same.. it's the back half that gets a buit different. ( I imagine some internal trans gears should swap as well .. at least on the 4 speeds. )

NAA4662B gasket, tranny to center housing NAA

NCA44025A gasket, tranny to center housing 640

notice the differences.

She has the nuts on the rear Axles 4 spped as far as I could tell. Has the heavy duty bucket system and 3pt I think it has pto also didn"t have wrench to take off cap. Found 6V regulator ubder hood but someone had change over to 12V alternator.

I"m guessing it a NAA

Soundguy is right. On a Jubilee/NAA the hydraulic lines run from the pump then externally under the transmission and then connect to external connection points found under the rear center housing on the right hand side. On a 600 a hydraulic manifold runs from the pump to the lower front edge of the transmission, where it connects and then runs internally to the rear center housing and connects to the lift cylinder.

It sounds to me like a sheet metal transplant has taken place. My '53 Jubilee has a '54 NAA emblem on the front; however, the serial number on the transmission/starter buldge indicates that it's a '53 Jubilee. There are also date codes that you can find on the rear center housing to help ID your tractor.
