That is a super 44 or 440

Super rare, super valuable. I'd have to look at a recent article to tell you how to tell from the pedals if it's a Super 44 or 440. There were fewer 440s than Super 44. Something like 700 Super 44s, 500 440s. Sold mostly in tobacco country to compete with the Farmall Super A and its successors.

Thanks for the info! Yeah, this was my great grandfather’s tractor and our farm was historically a tobacco operation (mostly dark fired). Great to know it’s something special. I’ll try to get some more pics of the pedals.

Of course, the serial number could tell you the year, but most 44s or 440s are missing the data plate. It easily fell off.
By your photo, it’s obvious that an alternator replaced the factory generator. That happened all the time.
Your exhaust used to exit out the left side of the hood, but somebody took the easy way out. The removed the “S” pipe, drilled a new hole on the right side of the hood and it now exits right on top of the exhaust manifold.
Don’t ever throw away the factory steering wheel thinking that you’ll just put on a generic replacement. You won’t find one that readily fits.
I live in Kansas, but my 440 originally came from the tobacco area of Tennessee.
The hydraulic pumps on a 44/440 were made by Cessna, the aircraft company. My has a hydraulic pump. The only other 44/440 that I’ve seen in this area didn’t have one.

From what I can see of the rear gas tank support, I think it's a Super 44. They had a straight channel, the 440 was more V shaped. On the Super 44, the clutch pedal is bent up at the left hand end like the left brake pedal, the 440, it's flat. On the floor plate, the Super 44 had just a small slot for each pedal, on the 440, there was a longer slot that went across for both brake pedals.

Both used a Continental engine, Clark transmission and final drive. Most of the Super 44s had red wheels and a yellow grill, but since they were built after the 550-660-770-880 came out, they could be ordered with Clover White wheels and grill like the 440s.

Oliver 440. I have one just like it. Looks to be a very complete unit!! Front and rear wheel weights and some of the cultivator linkage is there and the rear belt pulley. Nice tractor!! Do you own it?
Mine came with front and rear cultivators and a 60” mower..
Great restoration tractor.
