Help identify plow

Hello, I just picked up this 3x14 3pt plow at an auction today. Can anyone tell me what model it is? I would like to try it behind my SMD with Saginaw hitch if the hitch is up for it.

Thanks for any help

Dan

That's a 531, according to my plows catalog dated 11-22-N (1963).

Should be ok on the Saginaw hitch. Just remember to be quick with the lever, as there's no draft control.

Do you leave it in float or set the depth with my 2 way valve on the 3 pt. I have down pressure and float. Never used a mounted plow before

Thanks

With not having any personal experience with the Saginaw hitch, I'd say set your depth on the valve or on the cylinder with clamps. I'm afraid float might have you plowing down to China.

If the latter actually happens, please let me know. I could use some more neodymium magnets. :D

You need to set the plow so it pulls level, front to back, side to side, when it's at the desired depth. That's a matter of adjusting the top link and lift link.

You definitely do NOT want down pressure. If you need to use down pressure to push the plow into the ground, something is very very wrong. Plow points are worn out, or your angles are way way off. The hitch should be able to float up, but not go farther down than the set depth.
