Help identify this tractor

Hello, I’m going to take a look at a tractor tomorrow.

It’s an international with a loader on it.
The fellow doesn’t know what type it is and apparently he says it’s a six cylinder. To me, it looks to be more of a four.

Here’s a few pictures of the tractor.

Apparently, there’s no serial number on it - but he did find a few numbers scratched onto the loader which might suggest it’s a 504 international?

if he is telling you its a six cylinder then its a 606. better have a look see if there is a serial number plate on the bell housing... that will confirm it.

That's what I thought too. If it's a gasser, then the exhaust is a telltale.

The 404 and 504 gassers had the exhaust coming out the left, so it can't be one of them.

I also probably would eliminate the 504 diesel as the exhaust on this is farther forward on the hood than the 504 diesel utility, plus engine looks to be bigger than 504.

I would tenatively say it is a gas or diesel 606. But again, I may very well be wrong.:)

we got a better chance of being right than wrong. lol.:giggle: and yes it can be a gas or diesel, muffler on same side. that photographer needs lessons. what it looks like and what it is, is two different things.

My guess is 606. I do know the Farmall 504 gas and diesel used the same hood, IH just reversed the air intake and exhaust , not sure if the utility models did the same or not. This one looks a lot like the neighbor's 606 loader tractor.

Thanks guys for the answers - So an update - he didn’t know what it was - but it seemed solid and for 500 bucks I bought it. Older fellow said he Had it for 10 years used it to move firewood few times a year. This year he said it cranked but wouldnt start and got frustrated and wanted to sell it.

Here’s a few more pics. It’s a 6 cylinder gas. Looks to be around 50 or so horse maybe more?

Got a TA on the side and 5 speed gearbox.
Super solid and heavy tractor

Only plate I found was the one in the pic.

Took a few pics of the instrument cluster and layout if that helps.

Going to get her running this winter

Man for $500 I would have snapped it up without blinking.

Thanks for following up!
Your tractor is an IH 606, made in 1965. Maybe someone else can pop in and decode the S/N suffixes?
606's are not rare, but not ultra common either. They were made as a stopgap tractor between the 560 and the 656 utility tractor I believe.
I would start by verifying fuel flow to the carburetor and seeing if you have spark, then going from there.
Good luck! (y)

That’s one of the problems with “printed” IH SN tags. Someone get a bit aggressive and the model number is gone or the sun just fades it off, on some models it is more protected than others. I personally would check for spark first, points tend to get a bit of corrosion and quit contacting when setting. Fuel is a close second, as you know it needs both of them and air to run.
I’d say you got a great deal! (y)

Dude! That's a 606! We had one growing up. It was our only tractor - it did everything. It was very good with hydraulics. I think they have a higher capacity pump in them.
I'd love to have one again, just for the fun and memories.

Good score! Keep us posted on the progress!
