Help identifying this tractor

Picked this little jewel up the other day and need a little help identifying it , not a big propane fan but it was cheap enough

that being said would it be worth my time to convert to gas?

Welcome to the forum. Looks like a 941 to me also.
On the flat spot, just aft of the starter, above the two bolt holes,
you should find the model number and serial number stamped in.
Not the vertical spot where the bolt holes are, but the horizontal
surface right above them.

Is the gas bottle sitting on top of engine? If it were mine I
would leave it on propane and mount the bottle on front of the
tractor and repair my hood or replace the hood, most all
tractors I see in my area that run on propane have gas bottles
mounted on the front....just my two cents, keep running the
propane...

If it were mine I would keep it on propane, mainly for the cool factor. HOWEVER, before you make your decision figure your refill logistics out. This would've originally had a horizontal forklift type cylinder, which holds in the neighborhood of 35 lbs. You would need a wet line from the bottom of a larger propane tank in order to get liquid propane into it it, and if you want to get enough to go out and work for a few hours you would need a pump. The alternative would be to swap the empty cylinder for a full one, which even if they are aluminum you would still want a crane or perhaps a platform to drive up to. I expect that the reason for the replacement with the gas grill cylinder was for this reason.

My friend converts all his vehicles to natural gas, that runs on gasoline. He keeps his diesel trucks diesel, so far, but he's been looking at converting his over the roar truck also. He just bought a touring bus that's propane.

He has a pump next to his gas meter for his house, and plugs the line in, and it runs till it's full. That way he only pay's his house gas bill, and doesn't have to worry about not having the money for gas. He has at least 5 trucks & vans running on N gas now.

He claims he get's better millage with the natural gas vs gasoline. He has just bought a flat trailer full of gas bottles, and parts for changing trucks to N gas. So if your close by, and need a bottle, he will sell ya one. They are not the grill type bottles.

I'd keep it propane. But mount the tank some where else

Serial # located just behind the starter on the flat spot above the two holes. An L at the end of the numbers will tell you it was originally propane. I agree with
others 941. Propane is suppose to burn cleaner which may extended your engine life. To change is up to you. Don't see the LP's around here so if original I would look
for a tank and put it back the way it was. Either way Good luck with your new tractor.

I have a propane 861 project for this year. If you want to convert to gasoline I would be interested in the propane system.

I have a propane system I removed from a 961 several years ago - front mounted tank - it was a non-running tractor that I rebuilt to use gasoline - I think my email is open -
