went to look at a tractor today pre purchase. MF 250. no pre filter. could not see where one should be. rubber gas line no copper molded factory line.
a few things different from the previous MF 250 I had for 15 years. Tractor serial# 625047. Engine Serial number CE22488U736239L.
The man actually said the "U" was an "O" but I don't think that is possible. The First MF I had started with the 22488U engine identifiers also.
CE says D3.152 ,,,,,,,,U says UK,,,,,,,,,,L says 1984,,,,,,,,736239 Tells me the specific engine serial number. Am I right on this?
There is no pre filter and the PTO is in a different place, it's to the left of the seat, but on the inside of the seat under my left leg. the other one I owned was on the fender wall out from under the seat. the draft control is different also, lower down the right fender wall and much smaller.
There is not a rear pump for a front-end loader either. The other one had one.
the tractor cranks and runs, lift works, sounds great as far a timing and compression. I checked to make sure engine was cold upon arrival before cranking it.
Bird nest with 5 eggs on top of battery. LoL. removed for check out procedures and replaced after viewing. LOL.
Is there more than one variety or model of MF 250? the hood is standard not low profile. is this an orchard tractor? how do I figure out what it is supposed to be, so I know to add a pre filter or not. Can I put an axillary pump on it and a front-end loader? I'll be moving round rolls of hay, bush hogging and gardening. I have an 7-8' king Kutter disk the other pulled with no problem. guy wants 4,000. I don't know if I should keep looking and pass this up or if it's a worthy tractor for the price. it's the closest thing to me I can afford, that is a MF 250. How do I find out the resale or trade in value if it doesn't meet my needs. Sorry guys I have no experience but with the one MF 250 I used for so long. I'm doing all the research I can.
Can a MF 135 handle a large roll of hay and a front-end loader?
