Help to identify Ford Tractor

Gday Everyone,

I need some help with our family tractor, it’s been in the family since the late 70s.

I will attach pics I have the I&T manual and looked for the serial numbers but the main thing I noticed is that the serial number is a strange font and doesn’t seem to have the machined surface like the pics I’ve seen.

I really appreciate any help

Cheers Bradley

You should post this to the Ford board, Sean in PA is good at identifying tractors by appearance. I would say it's a UK Ford 5000, date code means May 23, 1975 Afternoon shift. The engine block code D1NN6025 means designed in 1971 for the Ford tractor division for use by the Ford tractor division. It is mostly associated with a 256 used for the 5000, but I'm not for certain on that. The numbers are odd because the tractor was made outside of the US, most likely Basildon England. Look under the hood (and elsewhere) for a data plate or sticker, the model code would be useful for identifying. Do you live outside of the US?

Yeah mate I’m in Australia, I opened the hood with the handle side I couldn’t find any tags but the tractor was filthy it needs a better wash

That lower number should be the engine serial number. If your posting numbers why not clean them off so we can actually see them

Welcome to the forums.
That style of front axle pivot says it is a 5000.The vented side hoods and wrap around grill says it was built before 4/68 though the sheet metal is easy to swap.
Thanks for the photos.
It is a great old tractor whatever it is.

Your date code is off by 10 years and 4 days
For that tractor 5E27C is a production date of May 27 1965

Yes, I was fooled by the engine block code indicating designed in 1971. It's a replacement engine which I didn't think of at the time. Also the Ford practice of using one number for the year resulted in an ambiguity for models with a production run of more than 10 years such as the 5000. I know you know all this, just posting for the benefit of other readers.

The tractor is a early 5000 model, this is confirmed by the front axle pivot design, cast oil pan, step molded into the foot board and 5 louvers in the hood for the 4 cylinder engine
3 cylinder models had 4 louvers
Production date stamped in the transmission case 5E27C = 1965 May 27 on day shift
The tractor has had a engine swap with with one from a later model
Casting number D1NN is a 1971 design, 3K in the date code means the block was cast October 1973 and would have been assembled shortly after that date
The serial number is not a standard Ford serial number but I have seen this before, apparently some countries required their own unique serial numbers
