Help with a H!!

Hi guys, I have a 41 H that has just been bored out to .060 over with EGGE pistons and rings, a new head with new, guides, seats, locks and valves. Real good compression, valves set at .015, timing is right on, new carb from Branson set at 1 1/4 turns on idle, 3/4 on load, mag is brand new with points set at .015, nice bright blue spark. My problem is that I can't keep it running! It will start up and run at slow idle and when I give it throttle it spits and sputters like it is either out of time (which it is not) or not getting enough fuel. The only thing I have not checked is the governor/weights. Could this be causing those symptoms? Any ideas would help at this point. Thanks in advance.

Check to be sure the float bowl vent passage in the carb is not plugged or blocked by the gasket. I had mud bees plug the passage in my 41' H several years ago practically while my back was turned. Same problems and it ran perfect after I found it.

My 39 Hwas doing the same thing. In my case it turned out to be that the rotor was wallered out where it fit on the shaft. It started fine and then it would die out just like it was out of time. Take a look at your rotor, Hopefully it will be an easy fix like mine.

I just rebuilt my 41 mine did it somehow I messed the timing up so just for good measure double check it. Also make sure since you probly have a mag make sure you adjust it the way Deere says it makes a difference. Rotate top of mag toward front of motor while set at number one tdc. Then rotate motor till number one is at tdc again and then rotate mag toward back slowly till it snaps. Then lock it down. I always preset my carbs to factory settings in manual and adjust till it performs best for my application.
