Help with an Oliver

A neighbor down the road has a tractor that is worth saving but finding parts is near impossible, hopefully you guys here could help!!! The tractor is a 1968 Oliver 1250 with the 4 cylinder gas engine, it needs a piston liner and a set of rings, everything else seems to be good. The tractor only has 800 hours, is a 1 owner, and has perfect sheet metal, the liner is pitted some and the rings were broken. If i couldn't find parts I thought about parting it out, I hate to do that but if parts are not available you don't have much choice. If anyone can help me or knows someone with parts please let me know.

Deglaze the cylinder wall, put new rings in it, and run it.

YT has the rings and gasket set. One place to look in the header under tractor parts.

I tried import but they suggested Maybach tractor and that guy wasn't able to help me any

it says the rings and gasket set is for a diesel, they don't list anything for a gas motor

The gasoline engine used in the 1250 was a Fiat military surplus engine and is a problem to source anything for. I don’t think Fiat built gasoline tractors for any other market except North America.

You took the words right out of my mouth. It says right on Import Tractor's site, no parts for 1250 gas. Unlike most things built for military use where they were built to high standards, those Italian miliary surplus engines were junk. Somebody had posted on the Oliver forum not long ago that he'd found a source for most parts for them, but he didn't leave any contact info and never came back. Just somebody blowing smoke I guess.

Those tractors have a frame, so a transplant is possible. From what I've read, the easiest engine to put in them is one from a Farmall A, B, etc. Not a direct bolt up by any stretch of the imagination, but closer than most anything else I guess.

What’s the dimensions of your rings ?
Suggest calling Hastings also .

My automotive machine shop can source pretty much anything through "open stock". I'll bet yours could as well.

Sometimes, but man, it's hard to justify spending hours searching for rinkydink parts for somebody when you could be spending that time making thousands doing a job.

I don't know, but I don't think the diesel version had a frame, so I have to wonder what all else is different.
