Help with engine identification

I recently bought an 800 diesel. It hasn't run in a few years so I found videos of a guy doing a lot of work on a non-running 800 with an inline IP like mine. I noticed a lot of differences between his fuel system and mine. Mine only has two fuel filters which spin on, his has 3 filters. The feed into the IP is toward the rear of the tractor where his was in the front. He also has a decompression bar and mine doesn't. I wonder if the fuel system or the whole engine has been changed. There is A3493 cast on the right side of my block. I've struggled to find any info using this ID number. If anyone could help, I'd appreciate it.

I believe the change to inline pumps happend late in the 7/800 production. His sounds like it's a conversion and they used the later spin on filter system when they did it. All his lines would be custom made in that case. The 3 filter system would be correct for your tractor. As to the fuel going in the front or rear of the pump, that doesn't matter. Not having a decompression on yours means it has been worked on, could be a newer engine or they just removed it. I cant help with that block number.

Here are a few pics of mine. I was wondering if later models had two spin-on fuel filters or when Case started doing that? I wondered if the engine is from a 30 series? Thanks

The heads appear to be 30 series heads since the decomp holes are cast closed, I am not sure about the block casting number either, it very well could be a 730 or 830 engine, look on the flange at the flywheel on the right side, serial number may be stamped there, later 30 series had a tag riveted to the flat spot in front and above injection pump, after I say that I see the tag there, get us the numbers off that tag and we may be able to get you closer

my thought is it is either a 730 or 830 engine, the top number will be A267 or A301, that is the model number may have a D after them, the second number sequence is the engine serial

My best guess is a 730, unfortunately the serial doesn't bring it back to anything, I could be wrong but may have been used in some construction applications too.

I really appreciate you guys trying to help. My concern is I may need to change internal parts. What bearings, rings, pistons would I use? Would an 800 and a 730 have interchangeable internals?

I believe sleeves and pistons will interchange along with bearings, gaskets wont, at least for the heads. I would go with 730 stuff all around, but @John Saeli will have better info for you, he will be along soon too, and he might be able to shed more light on if it is for a sure a 730, never seen any 100 series heads that didn't have the decompressor ports open and I dont recall any having the tag up on the front like that one does.

I looked on Grandpa's now Dad's short hood 830 COM gasser last night and it never had a tag on the block like yours, no holes or anything that indicate it was ever there, not sure what year it is, I've been told it is a later short hood, it has cast platform and the big single shift knob, I wonder if the separate engine tag came along with the tall hood or maybe not until the CK I don't really know but sure open to thoughts

No question about it, someone did a complete engine swap w/ a very late 730 w/ the spin on filters. Not a cob, all factory, except the 730 from '65 on used a fuel filter indicator light and you have the mechanical fuel pressure gauge as indicated by the line. Internals on the 730 and 800 are the same, except some gaskets are different.

Thank you John, I thought I was telling him right but a second opinion is always good, I deal with to many parts and different makes day to day that sometimes things in your head get crossed.
