in $30/gal paint from TSC. Turned out pretty nice, i think. The paint was heavier then the primer so i couldnt get it into alot of the small places, so i'll have to go get a spray can of the stuff. This is with it back together, i removed the tank and the hood.

Thats just the best one. The other rear is sorta weather cracked a little, but its got plenty of life left in it. Both front should be replaced pretty soon, but theyre good for a while.

What did you use to spray the paint on? Why did you paint it before the engine was all back togather?

You really have to prioritize, Lanse, or you"re going to lose interest in the project.

1. Make arrangements to get the head sent off to Dick.

2. While the head is away, take care of the tire/rim problems that you have.

That"s it.

Doing those two things will get you closer to a running tractor than anything you"ve done in the past three weeks.

Now lanse, don't take this th wrong way but...i think you shoulda worried more about the engine then the cosmetics! can't drive ti around and show it off with a stuck engine now can ya? plus now you gotta scratch up your paint to work on the engine! i always do mechanical before cosmetics. hope you get 'er running before sumer though! good luck little buddy!

Lanse, I've never worked on a B before, but if it's like most other tractors you can get those pistons and sleeves out of there as a unit real easy and without much more expense than a new set of O rings. Then you can tap the pistons loose from the sleeves individally. If the O ring mating surfaces are pitted, a little creative work with JB weld and sandpaper can fill them in and smooth them off. Just make sure you keep close track of the way the rod caps came off so you can put them back on right. And when you lay them somewhere in the proper order make sure you do it in a way that they stay in order until you need to put them back on. Don't ask me how I know! Some guys say the rod bearings will spin if you put the used ones back on, but I doubt if that will happen with this outfit. Maybe someone else can fill us in on that.

While the sleeves are out you will be surprised at how much rust you find in the block. Cleaning that stuff out can help prevent heating problems in the future.

You will have the time to do the sleeve- pistons while the head is away being worked on, and it will not cost you much of anything to do it now.

Someone else on this board who know Allises should be able to help you with advice on how to get those sleeves out. Jim

you know Jim I think I remember this being brought up before and it was explained that people on dial up can have the same I.P. and be different people entirely so before you jump on Lanse slow down and think about it and I think they would have blocked Lanse if it was him by his I.P.

I think it's pretty clear that Lanse is not the same person as the one to whom you refer. Just read a few posts and you'll see what I mean.

Lanse's IP belongs to AOL. Just do a reverse DNS lookup:

Mark and Roy are right.

I'm system admin at a small university with about 1000 PC's on the network. Except for a few special cases, all of them will appear on the internet as having the same IP address, since all of them show my gateway router address.

Each ISP may be different, but it is very common for one address to represent one or a few or few hundred or few thousand client PC's simultaneously and/or may recycle those same IP addresses over different users over time...

Plus, in all my reading of Lanse's posts - he just seems like a good kid to me!

Keep after that Allis, Lanse - we want to see pictures of you giving it a workout this summer!

Hillbilly; do you still have that rim??? Dick is coming shopping in the area and will probabally make arrangents to get it then. My next real consern is the thermostat housing, its covered up and down in rust, pretty badly. Theres caked on grease and its not in that good of shape, but i think i'll try to bring it back before i get a new one. I did the paint because.....Well it seemed like a good idea and still does. It dont run good (or at all) but it can look good!! Ive tried yanking on the crank, and putting it in gear and rocking it, but havent gotten anywhere. Should i pour more PB into those cylenders and let that eat at the rust??


Also Jim and probabally others; i am not engine/weldor/farmer man. I wouldnt have started this crap nor would i have taken it this far.

Someone could spoof their IP to appear like yours through the magic of redirection... but then you might be wrongly accused of some treachery. Even if not intentional, the mechanics of routing make it possible for IPs to be the same via coincidence. When you hear of someone being caught in a crime by their IP being traced you can bet it took a lot of reserach, heavy-duty i-net tools and searches through the routing logs on many servers to get down to one specific router.
