Hesston 530 question

Hello All, I am working towards fewer square bales and have been studying on round balers. I am small acreage, bale for my own pets, shoestring budget. I keep going back to the Hesston 530/5530. Slow, small bale, manual tie, relatively simple is what I want. I see them around, have a reliable tow pig, good 14k pipe top trailer, and will drive a bit to get what I want. I want to trailer it.

Million dollar question..... How wide do I have to be on the trailer rails for a 530 to get on it. For the life of me, I cannot find a clue about it on the WWW.

Does someone have a 530 they could measure outside to outside on the wheels please??

I have 82 inches and plenty of capacity otherwise, just can't find a clue about how much width I need.

Thanks All for looking at this post.

Ad about a foot on each side wider than the bale it makes so a 4 foot bale would be around a 6 foot wide baler. Our 484 New Idea is around that width and is a 4 foot bale. If you have 82 inches it should fit. Might be a couple inches off each side . Not a problem just cross chain it so it can't shift sideways while traveling and check chains when you stop.

I can't answer directly, but I bid on one at an auction a couple of years ago. Didn't get it, but I was picking up some other stuff while the guy was loading it. He put it on a trailer similar to mine if I remember (approx. 72 between fenders).

How far is it? Round balers usually tow pretty well. Unless I was going over 80 miles or so (or if I had to travel down highways/interstates) I'd just hook on an go.

You probably know this, but the Hesston 5530 and Case 8420 are essentially the same baler - might find some dimensions Googling them if you can't find anything on the 530.

If you get one, make sure you read the storage instructions well: As I recall, at the end of the season you use two pins to block the tailgate open just a little and keep the tension off the belts.
