Hi All, I recently purchased a Hesston 5510 that looked to be in good shape, and apparently field ready...... But after going through the manual and inspection it seems to be missing the Forming Grid assembly. PLEASE ant Hesston round bale experts chime in. I have not tried operating without this assembly as I am wondering id the machine will work with out it as all the components relating to this have been removed. Thanks in Advance to all...

Was hoping someone could say for sure, but I m pretty sure its a necessity. I know when looking at older Heston balers they say to make sure the grid isn t worn through and to run away if it is.

I was doing a bit of research and found out that a Case IH 8440 is the exact same baler. I have also looked at quite a few of these things and found that the belts are normally 4-5" wide. My baler has 6" wide belts, and with these belts there is no room for the guide bars to be installed. I also was talking with the guy I bought it from and he did make a couple hundred bales with it. So im wondering if someone may have removed the Forming Grid intensionally and installed the wider belts...
