Good afternoon, i have an old heston 530 baler. It had been running perfectly and now today after about 30 bales it starts bogging own when only 1/4 full. Have checked belts and alignment, cant figure out where to go from here any advice?

Check the bearings. All the way around.

When my old 605F Vermeer acted up that way, it was the gearcase getting tight. Something internal one of the bearings would have to be, seized up and doesn’t want to turn.

Are you rolling fairly short second cutting? What type of hay? Sometimes, short, chaffey, hay will get down into the tailgate latches and not allow a good latch. then the tailgate will open enough to drop down partially out of the chamber and bog things down. Though this usually happens at more than 1/4 full.

Also, be aware that there is no slip clutch on these balers. The input shaft to the gearbox is designed to shear if the baler locks up. Not the best design.
