When installing gaskets on spark plugs, the flat side of the gasket points to the top of the plug. The more concaved side goes towards engine.

I don't know if I have ever installed one of those rings on a spark plug, but I suppose just in case.

I can remember the measurements of jobs that I did 40-50 years ago,but when I go shopping,I come home with about 1/2 of what I set out to get!
